After working at Merrill Lynch for almost three decades, Scott and his partner, Ben James, decided to break off and form their very own privately-held and independent advisory firm to provide their clients with a broader range of financial advice and solutions.

Scott serves clients' personal financial planning needs, including: assistance with determining and prioritizing goals, assessing risk tolerance, investment allocation and management, estate planning, retirement planning, education planning and assistance with estate administration. Scott enjoys direct engagements with clients and their families; connecting generations of family members in important discussions about the blessings and challenges of managing wealth.

Outside of work, Scott is deeply involved with his church, St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral; having served as both the senior and junior warden of the Vestry and currently as a lector and chalice bearer for church services. Scott is also a proud supporter of Volunteers of America (Northern Louisiana), with previous service on their board of directors and endowment committee. In his free time he enjoys playing tennis and pickle ball and spending time with his wife, Renee, and their two children, Ellis and Anne. A Shreveport, LA native, he obtained his finance degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Ben R. James, CIMA^®, CKA^®

Ben focuses on portfolio management, financial planning and microcap investing. Prior to co-founding Deupree James Wealth Management, he worked at Merrill Lynch for over a decade where he managed money for his team and others as a Senior Portfolio Manager. 

As a Certified Investment Management Analyst^® (two percent of investors hold this certification), Ben completed three years of investing experience and passed two levels of certification exams (the average first-time pass rate is below 60 percent). Additionally, he attended and completed MIT Sloan School Executive Education coursework for Investment Management Theory and Practice. 

Graduating summa cum laude from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree, Ben later earned a master’s degree from the University of Florida. When he’s not at the office, Ben is actively involved, with his wife Stephanie in the lives of their five children and in the Shreveport/Bossier community. He volunteers at the Shreveport Little League and serves on the board of the Care Pregnancy Center.

Mark joined Deupree James Wealth Management in 2022 to serve as an Investment Advisor Representative, helping us provide superior customer service to our clients.

Prior to joining Deupree James, Mark worked at BancorpSouth as an underwriter and commercial lender. The skill set he developed in banking will help ensure that we are able to provide our clients with the full spectrum of financial guidance and advice.

Mark is from Shreveport and attended Louisiana Tech University, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Biology. After college he attended LSU to obtain an MBA with a specialization in finance. He is married to Sydney Moss and they have two children – Fletcher and Margot.

Avery Jeffcoat

Avery joined Deupree James Wealth Management in 2023 to serve as our Client Experience Specialist, helping us provide superior customer service to our clients.

Avery is from Bossier City, Louisiana. She attended Louisiana Tech University, graduating with honors,  summa cum laude,  and earned her Master of Business Administration all in four years! She was involved in numerous organizations including Kappa Delta Sorority, College of Business Ambassador Program, and was even the spokesperson on the Louisiana Tech “Be A Part of This” Commercial. 

Avery is engaged to Michael Green,  and they will be getting married in 2024. She enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and bringing joy to the community.

When she’s not at the office, you can find Kathy cycling the back roads of DeSoto Parish with her husband, John.

Susan joined Deupree James Wealth Management in 2010 with an accounting degree from Louisiana State University. She serves on the boards of the Friends of the Coates Bluff Nature Trail and the Gladstone Area Partnership.

Outside of work, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband, Garrett, their children, Karl and Ivey, and their cats, Ringo and Grouchetta.
